Sparkie ~ in the Richmond, VA area

Looking for a Home

This adorable little guy is Sparkie. He is 3.5 year old boy who belonged to the owner's grandmother who died. Although his most recent owner has has tried to keep him, the people are gone 12 hours a day and he is very lonely. As a result, he's been having some trouble with peeing in the house. Sparkie really needs someone home more, but he is good with kids and other dogs. He chases cats to play, but not to be mean. He is partially crate trained - at night - and he is cute as a button. Sparkie sleeps in his crate with no fuss, and knows "sit". He also loves to play fetch, and your arm will tire out way before he does!

Sparkie's foster mom says he is a sweet boy with a very nice temperament. He loves his toys, and he loves to sit on someone's nice cozy lap. She feels he would be most comfortable in a quiet home (he spent most of his life so far as the only pet of an elderly lady). A home with one other small dog would be ok, or a home where he would be the only dog. He does get along with children, but again, a more quiet home would be best, so we're going to look for a home that doesn't have a bunch of children.

Sparkie is neutered and up to date on his shots. Oh, yes, he is apparently a Yorkie, though the owner thought he was a silky. Whatever his breed, he's a cute, sweet boy who will make a wonderful pet.

We are looking for a wonderful, forever home for Sparkie. He is in a foster home in the Richmond, Virginia area at this time. Preference will be given to local applicants. Sparkie's new family will be expected to sign a contract agreeing to provide proper care for him, and there will be an adoption fee or donation.

If you have room in your home and heart for Sparkie, please fill out an application and mention his name. The application is on-line at If you have already filled out an application, it is not necessary to re-do it...just email Lyda at and let her know you are interested in Sparkie (please include your name and state so we can find your application in our files).
