Misty ~ in the Seattle area

misty My name is Misty. I am a sweet little girl Silky Terrier. I lived my whole life with my mommy, even after she started to get Alzheimer's, but then she just got too sick and had to go into a convalescent home. I am real quiet and gentle but they said the nurses couldn't take care of her and me both so I have to find a new mommy.

I am very cute and cuddly and I like to curl up in my human's lap or by their side. Right now I have a foster mommy and a foster daddy. I love my foster mommy, but I especially like to snuggle up with my foster daddy on the couch and to sleep next to him at night. I am a senior girl going on fifteen (my fifteenth birthday will be this February); that means I won't chew or tear up things. I am still very alert and intelligent, I like cats, I like to ride in the car, and I love to play with toys. I have a healthy appetite and eat almost everything even though I have no teeth left. I have been spayed. I am very calm, relaxed, and easy going.

Even though I told them I was fine, the Silky Terrier Club of America said I had to go to the doctors for a check up. After spending the night with a battery of tests for blood work, urine, heart, liver, etc. all my tests came back o.k. The vet said I didn't even mess in my cage. (I hope we can say the same about her when she gets to my age!)

I am leash trained for walks and going potty. I know what "Go pee-pee" means but I got a bit rusty on asking to go out when my mom got sick; I miss her so much. I hope someone can find me a new cozy home so I can love my new mommy or daddy the same way!

We are looking for a wonderful, forever home for Misty. She can not travel by air, so anyone interested in adopting her will need to be within a reasonable driving distance of Seattle. Her new family will be expected to sign a contract agreeing to provide proper care for her, and there will be an adoption fee or donation.

If you have room in your home and heart for Misty, please fill out an application and mention her name. The application is on-line at https://silkyrescue.tripod.com/appform.htm. If you have already filled out an application, it is not necessary to re-do it...just email SilkyRescueApplications@yahoo.com.

A letter from Misty

April 14, 2002

Hello Everyone!

My Foster Mom is writing this note for me today. First, let me say a heart filled "Thank you" to each and everyone of you who sent an application and offered to open your hearts and homes. I still need a home, but it must be in Washington State very close to the Seattle area.

There was a wonderful lady in Ottawa, Canada who wanted to provide me with a forever home. She was a retired breeder of Silky Terriers. But another health issue came up. My doctor discovered a very slow growing cancerous tumor on my mammary gland. My adoptive Mom said that was all right, she would be willing to care for me in Canada anyway! But my Doctors recommended against my traveling. We made a united decision it was best for me to stay here with my Silky Terrier Foster parents and avoid unnecessary stress caused by long distance travel.

I will write again to let everyone know how I am doing. Keep those cards and well wishes coming! My foster Mom reads them to me. Remember, there are other Silky Terrier Cousins who still need your help!

Thank you for supporting the Silky Terrier Club of America Rescue! Silky kisses to you all!
