Lou ~ in the Chicago area
Looking for a Home
Lou is an adorable 1 ˝ to 2 year old silky boy. He is neutered and up to date on his shots. He was given up by his former family because they didn't know how to handle him and train him properly.
Lou weighs about 11 lbs…and he loves to eat. He especially likes fruit of all kinds and lettuce! He's playful and energetic. He likes to be held and petted and gives kisses. Lou knows the commands "sit" and "down", and walks well on the leash. He's not so good on the commands "come" and "stay" at this time…but he can learn if his new special person takes the time to work with him.
This little guy is housetrained. However, he doesn't like to be in the crate and may pee to show his displeasure. He seems to like to be brushed, but hates having his nails trimmed. He gets along well with the other silkys. We haven't observed him with bigger dogs or with cats.
Lou seems to be very afraid of men. We don't know if he might have been abused in the past, but he is fearful. Several times he has lunged at someone's feet or legs -- might he have been kicked???
According to his former family, Lou got along very well with their children, but did not like other kids. So, we are looking for a home for him with no young children.
Lou's foster mom is very fond of him and is looking for the perfect home for this little guy. He needs someone who will be patient and willing to work with him. He is in Chicago area at this time. We have a very strong preference to place him locally and will be considering applications from the Chicago area first at this time. Lou's new family will be expected to sign a contract agreeing to provide proper care for him, and there will be an adoption fee or donation.
If you have room in your home and heart for Lou, please fill out an application and mention his name. The application is on-line at https://silkyrescue.tripod.com/appform.htm. If you have already filled out an application, it is not necessary to re-do it...just email Lyda at SilkyRescueApplications@yahoo.com and let her know you are interested in Lou. (Please include your name and the state where you live in your email to Lyda, so that she can find your application and forward it to the foster family.)
