Looking for a Home

From: Blessing (Male, Silky Terrier)

Dear Adoptive Families,

My call name is "Blessing". I am a 2 yr old playful male Silky Terrier currently living in Seattle, Washington. My "original" family contacted Silky Terrier Rescue about two weeks ago and asked if a foster home would take me? I was crushed.

Foster Mom says my housetraining "needs shaping up". I have been taught to "ring a bell" on the back door when I need to go outside. And, yes I know when I have "messed up". I immediately go into my crate and "disappear" for awhile. (Humans have a very short attention span you know).

The past two weeks I have learned when I go outside and behave like a proper "gentleman" I get treats! I like to play fetch with my ball, go for rides in the car, have a nice warm bath and be CLEAN. This is very important to me! Like you, I enjoy looking nice. (Maybe I'm a little vain?)

I get along with other small dogs and would be a great companion to another dog in the home. I do not believe in fighting or name calling, it is just not becoming. My nature is to be peaceful and "get along" with others. I do enjoy being with nicely behaved older (over 10) children.

My foster mom is working on getting a picture of me, but she says I look a lot like Chewey from Iowa that is on the web site, but my ears are up. Of course, some people think I'm even cuter!

Note from Blessing's Foster Family: This is a dog that "must" be "part of the family". He has responded VERY well to being a buddy. He likes to tag along while running errands in the car, going for walks, and laying on the floor while I work on the computer. He is highly responsive to affection. He sleeps on a large dog pillow at night (no accidents) and goes into his crate willingly when asked. He does bark loudly for several minutes when he realizes there is no one else in the house, and he is at home alone. For this reason, he cannot be placed in a condominium, duplex, or townhouse environment where neighbors might complain. This is a dog that will do very well with a person who is home all day, works part time, traveling in a R.V., or can tag along with his owner in the office. He requires an owner who understands and appreciates the "terrier" temperament. He will be neutered before placement and he is up to date on his shots.

We are looking for a wonderful, forever home for Blessing. He is in a foster home in the Seattle, Washington area at this time. Please, Washington State applicants only. Blessing's new family will be expected to sign a contract agreeing to provide proper care for him, and there will be an adoption fee or donation of $200.

If you have room in your home and heart for Blessing, please fill out an application and mention his name. The application is on-line at If you have already filled out an application, it is not necessary to re-do it...just email Gail at and let her know you are interested in Blessing.
