Gizmo ~ in Wisconsin

Looking for a Home

Gizmo is 5 years old and a really good dog. He is very affectionate and loves being around people. He loved his foster mom's 7 year old nephew who stayed at their house last weekend, but I do not know how he is with younger children and/or babies. He does bark when the doorbell rings, but is calm and friendly to people who have come to his house. Gizmo is smart and easily trainable. He wants to please and truly enjoys any and all affection and attention he can get. He likes to play with his toys and chases his favorite balls around the house. He always brings his play toys right back to me and drops them in his foster mom's hand when he is playing and exercising with her. He even likes to sleep with his favorite ball and stuffed animal right next to him for safe keeping. Gizmo
Gizmo Gizmo is completely housebroken and has never had an accident in his foster home, even when left home all day when his foster mom is at work. He LOVES to go for walks and is getting quite good at commands while on his leash. He goes for a 20 minute walk 2 to 3 times a days and absolutely canít wait for the next one. His foster mom does quite a bit of lawn and garden work and Gizmo is a great help. He loves to be outside and is very curious of his surroundings. However, he barks and lunges at other dogs! He becomes fixated on the dog and his foster mom cannot seem to snap him out of this behavior until the other dog is completely out of sight. Then Gizmo goes right back to his normal good-natured self. His foster mom has talked to the vet about this and have tried several obediance techniques, but nothing has worked so far. Because of this behavior, it is important to keep Gizmo constantly on his leash at all times when he is outdoors with you.
Gizmo is up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is neutered. He is agreeable to having his foster mom give him baths, clean his ears, eyes, teeth and brushing, but the vet said he did not like having his nails trimmed and reported that it took 2 vet techs to accomplish the task.

Gizmo would do best in a permanent home with no other pets at this time. A fenced-in yard would be great for him, but any home where he can go on walks and get lots of fresh air and exercise would be good for his high-energy personality.

Gizmo's new family will be expected to sign a contract agreeing to provide proper care for him. His adoption fee is $200. Preference will be given to local applicants. If you are interested in Gizmo, please fill out an application and mention his name. The application is on-line at If you have already filled out an application, it is not necessary to re-do it...just email us at and let us know you are interested in Gizmo (please include your name and state so we can find your application in our files).
