Chief ~ in California

Looking for a Home

Call me "Chief"! I want an easy, soft life from now on, because I have already lived through hard times. Silky Rescue found me in a shelter, starving, sick, miserable, smelly, and with only hours left to live. My luck changed that day!

I was whisked to my special Silky vet, where I stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks. After surgery,. medicine, and rest, my foster mom took me home. Every bone stuck out! I was very thin and looked even worse because all my coat had to be buzzed off. I got extra food and extra treats and now I look round and plump. I learned to jump high and speak for my food, and I can push and pull the Xpen with my teeth to move it where ever I want to go, usually closer to the food! This has not been very good for my teeth, Foster Mom reminds me.

My special food makes me very thirsty, and so I have to urinate often. I am paper trained here, because Foster Mom has no doggie door, but she thinks I will need one. I love to nap in my crate. I'm energetic, but, I will sit in your lap, stand quietly for grooming, walk nicely on a leash, and dive in to give you a surprise Silky kiss!

Chief We think Chief is about 8 years old. He will need special food the rest of his life and does need a doggie door and training to use it. As he seems plenty smart, this should be fairly easy. He gets along well with the dogs and people here, but would probably be happiest as an only dog. Older children only, please!

Cats? Don't know!

Chief's new family will be expected to sign a contract agreeing to provide proper care for him. Preference will be given to applicants within the surrounding area. Please note that we do not ship our rescues. His adoption donation is $100.00.

If you are interested in Chief, please fill out an application and mention his name. The application is on-line at If you have already filled out an application, it is not necessary to re-do it...just email us at and let us know you are interested in Chief (please include your name and state so we can find your application in our files).
