Oscar ~ in New Jersey

Hi I'm Oscar ... the dude from North Jersey .... I'm Cute, I'm Adorable ... and I'm am looking for my last forever family to spend my September years with.

I am an older fella (15 years old) that just wants a quiet home and some personal attention for the next few years. So an adult home, quiet and with someone who will be attentive and let me be a dog would be the perfect fit.

Oscar says: "I have separation anxiety (for which I have a special treat that helps me cope with you leaving me). I can be protective of my family and protective with food. I must be the only animal in the house ... as I was never trained to play well with others. I don't like other dogs or cats ... but do like goldfish ... they are quiet and move slowly. With people I am friendly but cautious, however children scare me ... they may be too loud and wild."

Oscar likes to be petted; he is affectionate and likes to cuddle. It takes a little time to win his trust. Oscar has learned to go into his crate and now feels safe there. He gives subtle clues when he needs to go outside; he will start to pace or prance like he's anxious. However, a belly band is a good idea if you are not home and can not watch for those signs.

Oscar does best on a senior diet as certain foods don't always agree with him at his age. He sometimes steals paper when he wants a treat -- very cute! Oscar is a very healthy Silky.

He likes to ride in the car but gets very excited so needs to be restrained (as any pet should be in a vehicle). He is accustomed to walking on a harness ... but we bet he would love a fenced yard.

An adult home, quiet and with someone who would be attentive would be the perfect fit for Oscar

Oscar is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines -- his adoption fee is $100. Oscar weighs about 11 pounds.

Oscar has been in foster care for two years because his original owner became disabled and unable to care for him. However, the foster has other pets and Oscar does not get along with them. Thus, he needs a new forever "alone" home.

Oscar's new family will be expected to sign a contract agreeing to take proper care of him. Preference will be given to applicants within the surrounding area. Please note we do not ship our rescues.
