Smiling Tucker ~ in Southern California
Looking for a Home
|I am called Tucker by my foster Mom. She found me in a shelter and grabbed me up right away, because she could see that I had been in jail long enough! I am a lively spirit, playful and full of energy. I like my new people and my toys. I like the dogs that live here and play nicely with them, except for the one that doesn't like me! I fetch the ball and squeak the toys, but nobody has taught me much that most dogs need to know, so I am a little like a puppy. Foster Mom is teaching me to do my business outside. I am getting really good at this, because I wait for her to put the leash on and take me out. Because one of the dogs here is unfriendly, I have to spend my time in a 2' X- pen, but I have never tried to climb out. I understand that it is a safety thing!
Foster Mom has taught me to sit for treats (Treats! What a concept!) and is working on coming when called, but there is a lot more I need to learn, so probably an obedience class is a must. I get out of the pen at least once a day to run around the house and stretch my legs. I like to supervise the guy that cooks at night. I am full of kisses and snuggles, but I can't sit still for too long. I am a little worried about things like being brushed or having my feet and tail handled, but I allow it if I am reassured.
|We believe that Tucker is about two years old. His former owner declined to pick him from the shelter, and it seems that he hasn't had much positive attention or training in that time. He is thin at 10 pounds, but has a good appetite and should round out quickly. He is healthy, his teeth are cleaned, he has had all his shots, can walk on a leash. Tucker's ideal home would include a kind but firm person, no little kids, other dogs are okay, and we don't know about cats. He will need exercise and lots of play time, and training in doggy basics.
Now for the best thing about Tucker- he breaks into a big toothy grin when he is glad to see me!
Tucker's new family will be expected to sign a contract agreeing to take proper care of him. Local applicants will be given preference. His adoption fee is $250.00.
