Mickey ~ in Colorado

Looking for a Home

Hi there, I'm Mickey. I'm a Silky mix, mostly Silky and maybe a touch of poodle, but not really sure. I'm a good sized boy at 17 pounds and approximately 2 years young. I'm really very much a puppy still, and I have an enormous amount of energy, so I'm not for the faint of heart.

I'm looking for a very active home, maybe one that includes some teenagers. I have a lot of energy, so if you like to run, I think I might like that. I currently have three yorkie foster brothers and I really love being with them. I also need a very secure yard to run around in. I'm mostly house trained, but I don't get to roam the house when Foster Mom isn't home. I'm in the kitchen and don't have accidents unless Foster Mom is gone longer than 6 hours. My foster brothers have a dog door, but I'm afraid of it.

Mickey
Mickey Since I'm still quite the puppy, I occasionally want to "chew" on hands, but a gentle "notbite" stops me in my tracks and I find that licks are much more appreciated. Foster Mom uses positive reinforcement and I really like that. If you yell at me, I pee all over 'cuz I get scared. Foster Mom doesn't know what my previous home was like, but thinks I didn't get a whole lot of love and training. I really want to make you happy, and I give lots of kisses when you tell me I'm good. I've learned to sit in record time and I sleep in a kennel at night and I promise to try to be the best little boy ever. I love to play with the squeak toys and I'm always trying to get the Yorkie boys to play with me. Sometimes they do and sometimes they tell me "No", and I can deal with that.
Mickey's Foster Mom here - Mickey is an absolute joy. He is going to be a very hard one to adopt out. He's a big boy, but one of the cutest little guy's I've have seen. Kind of reminds me of the "Beneful Dog" on TV but smaller. He is so full of love and mischief and really needs someone with time and patience. He lacks training but learns quickly. He's not destructive, but can chew up the occasional toy if not supervised. He's still a puppy, so you have to keep that in mind. He has an enormous amount of energy and will play for hours if you are willing. He will need a home where he can be let out at regular intervals to go potty and an obedience class is highly recommended, for you and for him. It will greatly increase the bonding. Mickey MUST be brushed daily, or his soft coat will mat. The mats are quite painful for him, so you have to be committed, and make it a game for him.

If you think you have the time and energy for this wonderful guy, please fill out an application and note your interest in MICKEY. He is going to make someone a very loving long term companion.

Mickey's new family will be expected to sign a contract agreeing to provide proper care for him. His adoption fee will be $400. Preference will be given to local applicants. Our application is on-line at http://SilkyRescue.tripod.com/appform.htm. If you have already filled out an application, it is not necessary to re-do it...just email us at SilkyRescueApps@gmail.com and let us know you are interested in Mickey (please include your name and state so we can find your application in our files).
